Objective:
Students will select an option for a research project about a performer well-known for playing the their chosen instrument. The student will research information in books and on the internet and present their findings through the project. Please make sure that you are not doing the same performer as another student!

Option #1 Poster
The student will complete a poster and it must contain the following: 1. Poster Size: 15X20 inches or larger and your NAME on the back of the poster. 2. Performer's name in big letters serving as the TITLE. 3. Picture(s) of the performer 4. Performer's Birth and Death (if applicable) dates. 5. Include 10 facts about their life such as region or country they were born; childhood, middle and adult life; education; their primary instrument; what or who influence them; etc. 6. Audio or Video link to well known performance. 7. 3 references cited, including page numbers from books or websites used. |
Option 2# Power Point
The student will complete a power point and it must contain the following: 1. 5-10 Slides 2. Performer's name, birth, and death dates (if applicable), and your name serving as the TITLE (on 1st slide) 3. Pictures of the Performer 4. Include 10 facts about their life such as region or country they were born; childhood, middle and adult life; education; their primary instrument; what or who influence them; etc. 5. Audio or Video link to well known performance. 6. 3 references cited, including page numbers from books or websites used on the last slide. |
Option #3 Presentation
The student will complete a PRESENTATION in front of classmates and it must contain: 1. 5-10 Notecards with all your info (will be turned in after presentation) 2. NAME on back of each card 3. Include 10 facts about their life such as region or country they were born; childhood, middle and adult life; education; their primary instrument; movie scores known for; what or who influence them; etc. 4. Audio or Video link to well known performance. 5. 3 references cited, including page numbers from books or websites used on the last card. |
Option #4 Performer's Diary
The student will create a diary written from the performer's perspective and it must contain the following: 1. 5-10 diary “entries” with dates that tell about the Performer's life. There must be at least one entry from when the Performer was working on the musical piece you chose. 2. Performer's name, birth, and death dates (if applicable), and your name serving as the TITLE (cover of the diary). 3. Pictures of the Performer 4. Include 10 facts about their life such as region or country they were born; childhood, middle and adult life; education; their primary instrument; what or who influence them; etc. 5. Audio or Video link to well known performance. 6. 3 references cited, including page numbers from books or websites used on the last page. 7. You are encouraged to be creative with your diary. You can include a hard cover (poster board or folder) and bind it (with string, brads, etc.) with the pages inside. |
Option #5 Research Paper
The student will write a research paper about the Performer and it must contain the following: 1. 300-500 word typed (double spaced in 12 point font Times New Roman) or written paper. 2. Performer's name, birth, and death dates (if applicable), and your name serving as the Title on the cover page. 3. Pictures of the Performer 4. Include 10 facts about their life such as region or country they were born; childhood, middle and adult life; education; their primary instrument; what or who influence them; etc. 5. Audio or Video link to well known performance. 6. 3 references cited, including page numbers from books or websites used on the BIBLIOGRAPHY page. 7. Remember to be organized with your work – write in paragraph form with an introduction, body, and conclusion. IF YOU COPY/PASTE INFO YOU WILL BE ASKED TO DO IT OVER!!!! |
